Welcome to The Sparrow Bakery Northwest. After opening the doors to our original location in 2006 we are proud to have opened our Northwest Crossing lcoation. Because of the size limitation of our Scott Street location, we wanted to offer a space where our customers would have room to dine both inside and outside. The new location is much larger and offers a slightly different menu from the original. Let’s take a look at some of our delicious offerings.
The city of Bend, Oregon is truly a breakfast town. The area is literally dotted with great spots to get anything from a quick bite to full blown meal. At The Sparrow Bakery Northwest breakfast is our specialty. Here are a few of the items you will find on our menu every day.
What better place to start than with our world-famous Ocean Rolls. We start with our buttery croissant dough. We then sprinkle it with cardamom, vanilla, and sugar. Each Ocean Roll is then hand-rolled and baked to perfection. The resulting combination of flavors has to be experienced to be fully appreciated. It’s what gave us our reputation as one of the best breakfast spots in town.
If you’re looking for something a little more filling we also offer our bacon breakfast sandwich. We take one of our buttery, flakey hand-rolled croissants and cut it in half. Inside we place our homemade aioli, bacon, arugula, a poached egg, and avocado slices. The flavor balance is spot on and the texture contrast between the crisp croissant and the perfectly cooked egg makes it feel like there is a party in your mouth and everyone is invited! Of course we also offer a non-bacon version of the sandwich too.
Another popular choice is our daily selection of bagels and scones. Our scones vary daily and may include fruit, chocolate chips, or raisins.
We offer three different varieties of bagels. The most popular is our smoked salt bagel. This one goes especially well with cream cheese, smoked salmon, and capers. We also offer a cheese bagel that is covered with melted gruyere or swiss. Finally we offer a poppyseed bagel that is also delicious with cream cheese. All of our bagels are made fresh each morning so that they are chewy and delicious.
We also offer a few other sweets for breakfast. These include our chocolatines and two different types of cookies. Chocolatines are croissant dough rolled up with dark chocolate chips. Our two cookie flavors include our COCC and peanut butter chocolate chip. The COCC cookie has cranberries, chocolate chips, oats, and coconut flakes. It’s a cookie that is guaranteed to satisfy even a ravenous appetite.
Our peanut butter chocolate chip is The Sparrow Bakery take on the classic flavor combination of peanut butter and chocolate. Both of our cookies use a mix of brown and white sugar to achieve the perfect balance of crunchy and chewy.
If you’re looking for a more traditional breakfast choice we also offer our steel-cut oats. Our oats are cooked to perfection and come with dried cherries, pecans, and cream. If you’re new to Bend and Central Oregon, you won’t find a better breakfast anywhere in town.
If you’re looking for a great spot to do lunch in Central Oregon then we’ve got you covered as well. Our Northwest Crossing restaurant serves a variety of sandwiches, soups and salads. You won’t find a better lunch anywhere in Deschutes county.
Our most popular lunch item is the Monte Cristo. The Cristo starts with two thick slices of our Miche bread which are battered and baked to a golden brown. Next comes a layer of raspberry preserves and our own house-made onion marmalade. We then pile it high with smoked turkey and top it with creamy gruyere cheese. This sandwich offers the perfect balance of smokey, sweet, and savory. You have to try it to truly appreciate it!
Another sandwich that is a popular lunch choice is the Croque Monsieur. Served on our fresh-baked and buttery brioche, this classic French specialty is piled with ham, gruyere, shallot-infused béchamel, and stone-ground mustard.
We also offer our take on the classic Waldorf chicken salad sandwich. We start with our hand-rolled croissant and fill it with our home made Waldorf salad. This includes grapes, apple, blue cheese, walnut, celery, green onion, tarragon, & greens. It’s the perfect balance of flavors that goes extremely well with the rich buttery flavor of our croissants.
If you’re looking for a bit more heat, Yoly’s Torta is a Mexican pulled-pork sandwich served on a brioche bun. Served with a red chili sauce, lettuce, avocado, and onion this is a flavor packed pork sandwich with some fire.
If you’re looking for lighter fare we also offer a seasonal salad selection. The ingredients change with what’s currently in season. They range from beets to butternut squash. We make all of our dressings in house specifically to highlight the other ingredients. Be sure to ask our staff about the salad when you come in!
Soups are another specialty of the Sparrow Bakery. Like our salads we use seasonal ingredients to ensure the richest and brightest possible flavors. Our soup selections change throughout the week so be sure to check the menu when you come to the restaurant.
We take special care to make sure that all of our recipes are well balanced, delicious, and presented beautifully. This is part of what has made our cafes some of the best places to eat in Central Oregon.
